Happy New Year

We stayed up to watch the ball drop last night. I must question, why the is it so late? Couldn't we just drop the ball around 8pm? It may have seemed a wee bit later due to the fact that I drove back from Poughkeepsie solo, with two little munchkins, then brought everything in from the car and got almost all the unpacking done.
